NEW CD APOKALYPSIS
APOKALYPSIS is the name of a new CD, released on the record label Animal Music at the end of 2013. The recording features the Tiburtina Ensemble, a female vocal ensemble specializing mostly in interpretation of Medieval music, and a trio of instrumentalists – David Dorůžka (guitars), Marcel Bárta (saxophones and bass clarinet) and Martin Novák (drums, percussion). The program is based mostly on music from the Medieval Spanish manusricpt Codex las Huelgas and uses as its main theme the Revelation of St. John (Apocalypse) from the New Testament. Medieval vocal music is put side by side with contemporary improvised music inspired by the story of the Apocalypse, transcending the genre of jazz improvisation in many ways. The album was recorded in the Royal Palace of the Zvíkov castle in southern Bohemia, taking advantage of the natural reverb of the space, in the course of two days in December 2013, when both inside and outside temperature was just above freezing point.
The CD can be ordered in the Animal Music e-shop.

The CD is also the main topic of the interview with David published in the January issue of the Rock&Pop magazine.
The album Fall Somewhere by French bassist Nicolas Moreaux, released by the Fresh Sound label, received the prestigious Grand Prix du Disque de l’Académie Charles Cros, the award of the Charles Cros Academy in the Jazz category in 2013 in France. The CD features a stellar line-up of musicians, as well as guest pianist Tigran Hamasyan and saxophonist Bill McHenry besides David Dorůžka. More information at www.nicolasmoreaux.com.
